Spiritual Coach, Personal Development Blog

Spiritual CoachHello! My name is Jennifer Brighton. I’m happy you found my blog. I’m a personal development blogger and a mindfulness coach. Since you’re reading this you must be prepared to clear your own path and transform into the most ideal version of you that you could possibly be. You’ve come to the right place!

An interesting thing about perfectionists is that most people who struggle with perfectionism aren’t even aware that they’re fighting that battle. Since they don’t realize that there’s a label for the self-defeating and frustrating behavior, they don’t know there’s a place they can go for help, so they’re stuck fighting forever. I don’t want you to do that!

The most significant myth regarding perfectionists is that by their very nature they’re organized and neat. Perfectionists certainly strive to be organized and neat and organized. But more often than not, they aren’t.

Do any of the following describe you?

  • You love to plan, but self-doubt and fear keep you from working through to completion.
  • You fear falling short of your expectations, so you stop trying to live up to them.
  • You don’t like to feel lazy, so appear busy with things like Pinterest and a long list of commitments, but you’re really just procrastinating with things that keep up the appearance that you’re being productive.
  • Despite your achievements, you don’t ever feel good enough. But you still keep trying.
  • You’re ambitious and smart, but you still obsess about what other people think of you.
  • You’re a people-pleaser; you strive to please others.
  • You’d be doing something else with your life if you had less concern about what other people would think.
  • You do everything perfectly, or you don’t do it at all.
  • You’re afraid to set lofty goals for yourself because you’re not sure if you could handle the disappointment if you abandon them.
  • No matter how excited and motivated you feel at the beginning of new things, you have trouble sticking with things long-term.

Yes, that’s me. What now?

It’s a good thing if you feel like this describes you to a T! This means that you aren’t alone. It means that I understand you, and that I can help you. How This Became My Life

In 2012, while I procrastinated studying for an upcoming exam in my campus library, I decided I’d start blogging. I was satisfied with what I was doing in my life, but I felt that I was able to do so much more. My problem was that I didn’t know what to blog about. So I blogged about that!

I may now appear confident and self-assured. But when I started the blog, I was overcome with self-doubt, and was so ashamed I didn’t share my posts with anybody. In fact, it was blogging that brought me to the realization that I was battling perfectionism. When I was on the conventional path to success, I wasn’t held back much by my inherent need to please. But when I took the risk to put myself “out there,” my people-pleasing and procrastination soared to whole new levels.

After years of being accustomed to getting in my own way but struggling with blogging, I decided that something needed to change. By then I had a bachelor’s degree and a full-time job. But none of that mattered. I finally felt ready to go all-in. I started working with a personal life coach, dedicated myself to my personal development, and focused like I never had before.

In 2016, four years after starting, I finally became a full-time blogger. It’s been an amazing journey getting to where I’m at today. But I’m proof positive that it’s possible to stop holding yourself back. I’m eager to show you how!
